Welcoming Christ!
Serve alongside wonderful people and have fun along the way. JOIN US!
We who are called to be ministers of hospitality are entrusted with fostering a sense of welcoming and belonging among those assembled at prayer at public worship.
This ministry is open to men and women of all ages (older than 18) who desire to welcome all people of our community to weekend Masses and prayer. The ministry requires an understanding of the nature of liturgical prayer, the ability to relate to people of all ages, and the capability of responding well to sometimes challenging situations. We greet and welcome the congregation when they arrive for Mass and help them to find seating if needed. We also assist with the offertory collection and help direct the faithful to communion stations during Mass.
WHY WE SERVE
We serve in direct contact with the people we minister to as we open doors for people arriving, smiling and greeting courteously as they enter into the temple, or lend assistance to those because of age or other disability. We have the opportunity to be the hands of Christ to the living Body of Christ. We approach our ministry with diligent preparation and are not discouraged by those who ignore us or refuse our help. We are watchful for the ways in which we can help to foster the sense of family among all who worship and especially among those who are new to our community. Most importantly, our physical presence is a reflection of the Christian love which identifies us and binds us together.
USHERS
Although functions such as taking up the collection and seating our community members are important, our role challenges us beyond only greeting, but to see in every person the face of the Lord and to treat them as such. If these functions are not something that you feel comfortable with you can also sign up to offer a warm welcome as people arrive and hand out bulletins to say goodbye after Mass.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU
Technical orientation and training as well as liturgical and spiritual formation are a necessary part of every ministry. Initial orientation and training are required before the new minister enters service. Each minister is also expected to grow in faith and action through attending ongoing formation for established ministers at least once a year. Each minister is expected to attend the yearly formation held for all ministers of hospitality.
RADICAL HOSPITALITY
How do you feel when you walk through the doors of our church? Do you feel welcomed and at home? Would you invite your family and friends to come?
Our mission is to welcome all who come through our doors and help them feel at home, especially our brothers and sisters visiting us for the first time.
Do you have a heart for Christ? Do you want to see and participate with the Holy Spirit in bringing people closer in communion with Christ through participation in our parish?
We thank you in advance for sharing your gifts with our parish community through the Ministry of Hospitality!
